Who runs this site, and who is responsible for your data

Caramel Cottage is a self-catering holiday let at The Bay, Filey, North Yorkshire. The cottage is owned and this website operated by Hunmanby Cottages Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 13474356, registered office Unit 9 Innovation Centre, Conyngham Hall, Bond End, Knaresborough HG5 9AY. Hunmanby Cottages Limited is the data controller for this website.

Bookings and guest enquiries are handled by our managing agent, Filey Bay Direct, who are a separate controller for the booking details you give them. You can reach them at office@fileybaydirect.com or on 07962 150 258, 2pm to 8pm daily.

What we collect

If you browse the site and accept analytics cookies, we collect anonymous statistics: which pages you visit, roughly where in the country you are, and how you found us. We do not use this to identify you.

If you make a booking, you enter your details into the booking calendar, which is operated by SuperControl on behalf of Filey Bay Direct. Those details go to Filey Bay Direct, not to this website. Their terms apply to that booking.

If you email or ring, we keep what you send us so we can answer you.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device.

• Essential cookies. These make the site and the booking calendar work. They are always on.
• Analytics cookies. Google Analytics, used to count visits and see which pages help people book. These are off until you accept them.
• Advertising cookies. Used to measure whether an advert led to a booking. These are off until you accept them.

Nothing beyond the essential cookies runs until you choose “Accept all” on the cookie bar. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie choices” link at the foot of any page.

Who else sees your data

• Filey Bay Direct and its booking system SuperControl, for bookings and payments.
• Google, for website analytics, and for advertising measurement if you accept advertising cookies.

We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to anyone else for marketing.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is kept in aggregate for up to 14 months. Booking records are held by Filey Bay Direct under their own retention policy. Emails are kept while they are useful and then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask Hunmanby Cottages Limited for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email office@fileybaydirect.com and say what you need. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
