You can eat very well around Filey without going far. Easiest of all, the resort has its own pub, cafe and pizzeria, so on the night you arrive, or after a long day on the beach, you do not need to get back in the car. Handy for a quick family meal, or a drink once the children are asleep.

Fish and chips in Filey

Filey takes its fish and chips seriously. Inghams, right by the beach in the town centre, is a long-standing favourite with generous portions. Dicky Bees is Filey’s oldest chippy, going since 1932. CJ’s on Murray Street and The Brown Room on Union Street are both well liked, with takeaway and sit-in options. On the promenade, Walkers Snack Shack does hot and cold food with outdoor seating over the beach.

Pubs and pub dinners

For a proper pub meal, The Star is a family-run favourite with the traditional line-up of fish and chips, burgers and steaks. Filey has a good scattering of traditional pubs in and around the town centre for a pint and a bite.

Coffee, cake and picnics

The Filey Deli and Coffee Shop in the heart of town does freshly made sandwiches, cakes and pastries, ideal for stocking a picnic before a walk on the Brigg or a day on the sand.

Stocking up for self-catering
